Even those with the so called ‘perfect’ ‘best’ or ‘easiest’ life still have challenges and problems they need to solve in their day to day life. When problems come up, it doesn’t mean you have a bad life or have failed, problems crop up in everyone’s life and the important thing is how we deal with them.

No matter how well planned, researched and experienced you are, things will always catch you off guard. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that we shouldn’t plan and research things as these are important things to do, but they need to be done whilst always being prepared to change and move if something unexpected comes up.

Don’t Panic

They key thing when something happens that we aren’t expecting, is not to panic. Easier said than done I know! How you react when something happens that you weren’t expecting defines you more as a person, than when life is going along as planned. Being able to change with and cope with unexpected events can change your life in some very amazing ways. Remember not all unexpected things are bad things and even some of those bad things can be turned around for good, if you work hard enough.

If something doesn’t go the way you thought it would, try not to get frustrated. When something happens that you weren’t expecting, take a minute to breathe and take yourself out of the situation. There will be many ways in which you can deal with an unexpected event, so it is important that you take the time to find the right one, as the first way you can think of may not always be the best one.

Talk about it

If you take time to plan and prepare something, you should take time to plan and prepare what you are going to do, when something unexpected happens. If like me you are married, then take time to talk it over with your other half. If it is something at work, talk it over with your colleagues. Sometimes vocalizing your thoughts and listening to others is the best way to deal with situations you weren’t expecting.

When things go wrong, just think of it as a chance to test your problem solving skills. When you find a way of solving a problem you feel so good about yourself. Don’t let any problem in life beat you! Don’t let problems get you down, just keep thinking and talking about them until you find a way to solve them, as for most problems there is always one or two solutions.

  1. Good word. I learned years ago that even if you do figure out the answers to all your problems through planning, either the problems will change or the answers needed will change. So just take one day at a time and don’t worry about tomorrow because most of what you worry about will never happen.
